Antilles Imperial
SPECIFICATIONS & BODY CONSTRUCTION
The Antilles Imperial is the ‘crème de la crème’ of the Conway line-up. The epitome of luxury and vintage styling culminating in a truly unique and harmonically rich instrument.
With elements of vintage archtop construction in its formed laminated sides and centre-block, mixed with solid timber top and back construction, the Imperial boasts harmonic overtones not heard from fully laminated instruments.
The Imperial’s body size is slightly larger and deeper than standard Antilles and also features double f-holes, both of which increase the resonance and fullness of the guitar’s tone.
This is a fully customisable guitar in every aspect – pickups, scale length, pickguard, hardware, inlays, timbers are all open to your imagination. The only things that are ‘standard’ are the body and headstock shape, everything else is up to you!
FROM $7,999 AUD
HEADSTOCK
Each Imperial headstock is embelished with a pearloid Conway logo inlaid into the headplate of choice as well as a handmade timber truss cover made from timber matching the fretboard.
The highest quality bone nuts are chosen for optimal tone. The addition of 2mm hardwood headplate (ebony as standard ) further increases headstock stability.
NECK JOINT
Extra long neck tenon and an extra deep heel for added mass in the area it matters most.
This extra-large neck joint allows for an extremely solid neck-body fit and solid connection which aids in increased sustain.
BACKPLATES
Borrowing from the same concept as the Signature model, the Imperials backplates are made from matching body timber that also matches the thickness of the back of the guitar.
These are not just your average backplates used to cover electronics cavities – when in place these truly become one with the body.
BIGSBY
Standard on the Imperial, the Bigsby is the epitome of class and luxury. Not just a vibrato, there is no denying Bigsbys add something special to a guitars tone. While other tailpiece options are always available, don’t overlook the Bigsby if you decide to spec out our very own Imperial.
CONSTRUCTION
The Imperial features a laminated semi-hollow and centre-block construction like the revered vintage guitars of the late 50s and 60s. Combined however with the use of solid timber top and back, a unique sonic character is created with the dry woody character of laminate timbers and rich harmonic content of the solid timbers. This makes the Imperial in a class of its own tonally, a truly unique experience
